Jo-Ann Fabric & Craft Stores Recall Outdoor Benches Due to Fall Hazard
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of product: Best Value Park Benches
Units: About 4,500
Distributor: Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores, of Hudson, Ohio
Hazard: The benches can become unstable and break, posing a fall hazard to consumers.
Incidents/Injuries: None reported.
Description: This recall involves Best Value park benches with a green metal frame and wooden slats. The benches measure 50-inches long by 22-inches wide by 30-inches high.
Sold at: Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft stores nationwide from January 2008 through March 2008 for about $30.
Manufactured in: China
Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled park benches and return the product to the nearest Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft store for a full refund.

Wow. This is shocking. You know somebody just asked me about my penchant for renewing, reusing, and repurposing vintage stuff. This is a really good example of my answer to them. How much of the stuff that's being put out now do you think is going to be around in 60-100 years. Sad.

2I hope they can fix the problem, because basically it is a good idea....
3shopping42 nothing today is going to last a long time-my washer and dishwasher purchased in 1991-still going strong-my car looks like new and she is 16yrs. old and my refrigerator 1994 I think-works like a charm-me I look good and you could never guess my age--which I won't tell-but lots of creams and potions and good old fashioned hard work w/great genes and healthy living!!
